Forest Bathing, Forest Therapy, and Shinrin-yoku

“You carry a forest inside you. It is a mirror within of the great forests of the world. This is an invitation to bring those inner and outer forests together. The medicine that brings healing is in the relationship. Forest bathing is a potent tool in this supremely important work." - Amos Clifford

What is Forest Therapy?

Inspired by the Japanese practice of Shinrin-Yoku, which translates to “forest bathing,” Forest Therapy is a research-based framework for supporting healing and wellness through immersion in forests and other natural environments. Studies have shown many health benefits, including a boost to the cardiovascular and immune systems and for improving mood and mental wellness.

Our Forest Therapy Guides are certified by the Association of Nature and Forest Therapy. The ANFT model builds on those health benefits and asks: what happens when we notice that we are a part of nature and are related to all other beings in fundamental ways?

Our Forest Therapy Experiences

  • A typical Forest Therapy experience lasts about 2.5 hours and does not often go more than one mile in length.

  • During the experience, your guide will prompt you to engage all of your senses in noticing the invitations the forest offer to us. After, we'll share some tea and snacks.

  • We offer Forest Therapy experiences as standalone programs, monthly or seasonal packages, or breakout offerings for retreats or hiking/backpacking trips.

  • Accessible and youth-oriented programs are available.
